Storm King Art Center
Storm King Art Center is an open-air museum located in New Windsor, New York.
I am such an enthusiast when it comes to exploring new places – I've wanted to visit the art center for some time now! From what I read, the museum contains the most extensive collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States. I'm very fortunate and often feel blessed that I’m able to live in NYC. After living in here for almost a decade now, I still have many occasions where I had a *pinch me* moment – this is especially true when driving on the freeway returning from upstate/other states where I could see the Manhattan skyline or on the plane looking down on the island.
It was a lovely November Saturday morning, Brad and I were excited to drive up to Upstate NY, as we got invited to a friend's 50th birthday in Accord, NY. The dinner celebration started at 7 pm, and we thought to hit the road earlier at noon from Brooklyn because we wanted to check out the art center. The drive was delightful – we made a few stops along the way and went sightseeing over the Hudson River. The view looked something like this:
After spending about half and hour at the Alpine Lookout point, we spent another hour driving, and finally arrived at Storm King Art Center around 3 pm. As soon as we arrived, we found out that the art center closed at 4:30 pm due to daylight savings – the sky turned dark around 4:45 pm during this time of the year. Although our trip was cut short(we walked around for about two hours), I could still capture a few amazing shots during sunset. We plan to visit again some time in Spring, the space was just too large to be explored in one day – we’ll be back, I promise!
